A mountain of silver
pieces of lives made worthless
human flesh rendered
human flesh rendered
worthless, incinerated
piles of spectacles
piles of spectacles
with no-one to see
who will bear witness
who will bear witness
to hair, teeth and wedding rings
gory reminders
gory reminders
make us believe what we must
always remember
always remember
each tattooed number a name
each a priceless soul
each a priceless soul
worth more than silver pieces
why couldn’t they see?
why couldn’t they see?
blindly following orders
cursed humanity
cursed humanity
gates of hate imprison us
break them, make men free
I hesitated to click like, given the subject matter – my like refers to your poetic honesty.
Lest we forget!!!
You’ve covered a lot of ground here!!
Lesson of the day – writing haiku in the middle of the night when you can’t sleep may not be a good idea 🙂
Soul touching!
‘break them, make men free’ highly Demanding!
Well done,Songsylass
Wow! wow!…Lovely flow….and I love the conclusion in the end…
“cursed humanity
gates of hate imprison us
break them, make men free”

Open gate of your heart
Terrific and powerful piece….I see that this piece of history stirred your pen.
Nice haiku pattern….Very well done…
Excellent cascading account of history the world should remember, and lessons that should be learned … nicely done, sonsy!! My “like” is for the way you handled the difficult prompt. Here is my Day 27.
Just two words: Well done!!!
